A Yes day

March 1, 2010 001

Today was a yes day

Yes to marshmallows
Yes to chocolate chips
Yes to cuddles and naptimes
Yes to Curious George and Super Why
Yes to imaginary lunches eaten in place of a grilled cheese to get to dessert...
Yes to running around the kitchen
Yes to an 18 month old being naked and trying out the potty for 45 minutes
Yes to an open mind
Yes to being us
Yes to quiet and loud and everything in between
Yes to being here, in the present
Yes to sobriety
Yes to surrendering
Yes to life

  3. YES!

Beautiful post. And gorgeous picture! You have quite a talent with photography!

And the ONLY way I could potty train my son was to have a lot of naked days... him, not me. :)

  4. Ellie - that's why she wants to be naked :) Fynn's been potty trained for months, but he still likes to run around naked... so she thinks she should be able to, and she also thinks she should be able to use the potty even though she totally doesn't get it (and mama is NOT ready for her to!) ha!

  10. My kids strip naked the second they walk in the door. I guess you could say I say yes to nakedness....everyday!

  11. Oh, I love yes days after terrible days ... makes those gray days seem far away. And it gives everyone a new view of life. Sometimes I just need to sit back and say OK, let go of the control over having a clean house/clean child and so on.
Also, so proud of your sobriety. Really, after days like you had last week, it's sometimes a hard thing to say yes to.

  12. Let me guess. Super Why changed the story, solved the problem, hip hip hooray. Yes! I knew it.

(Bet he could have done it faster if he'd had a delicious imaginary lunch.) =>

  14. Amen to yes days!! We usually had yes days when we were with Dad...not having to care for us full time turned him in to a sucker!!

  15. I didn't realize your little girl is 18 months! So is mine! Yes to potty training! (OK. Maybe that's a big fat NO. But, it's a yes day, right?)

I love little naked bums. They make me smile.

  17. A Yes day sounds so wonderful right about now!

Isn't it funny how some children just love to be naked?! I swear, Sean's at his most comfortable when he's running around with nothing on.

  18. Yes! I need to say that more. I've had a quite a few days lately where it seems that all I say is "no" "stop" "wait" "don't."
