Picture overload... with some gushing

This past Sunday we spent the afternoon at Lucas's parents. If you're a regular reader you know we spend quite a bit of time at their house in the woods. It's so peaceful. It's on a mountain in New Hampshire, where if it's winter there is always a foot of snow {give or take... well... mostly give a few inches...} It's where I first met my inlaws, where we held the rehearsal for our wedding, it held my baby shower and countless other family activities.

It's a place where you can actually hear yourself think. Which is nice.

It feels good to be there. I'm a lucky girl to have such a fantastic mom and dad in law. Just saying.

Plus they always spoil us with yummy food. And they have toys.

This weekend there was sunshine. And even with the snow, the warm sunbeams made it feel like maybe, just maybe, spring really is right around the corner.

Fynn found the joy of a perfect snowball, and the perfect hit. Both kids thought a snowball fight was the most hysterical thing in the world.

When we're up there, eyes dance and glimmer. You're surrounded by nature, and peace. How could you not soak it up and be captivated...

{Paige could still take or leave the whole snow thing...}

We have so much fun, that we often don't want to leave. We had to drag Fynn to the car, screaming his head off that he didn't want to go home. That he wanted to stay at Grandma and Papa's, to sleep there, to sit on their blue couch. He was a hot mess.

That's the beauty of family. They still love you when you're a big hot mess. They hug you and pass on a bit of their strength. They accept you and understand you when you're screaming that you don't want to do something, but you do it anyway because it's the right thing.

I'm coming off of a family high, one of the best kinds of natural highs. We've had so much family and love surrounding us the past few weeks, actually, our entire relationship, that I can't help but gush now and then.

End of gushing. For now.

  1. Did the "Sesame Street" figurines stay in New Hampshire or make the trip home? (Love that shot.) Leaving those guys would have caused some hot messiness at our house, for sure. =>

  6. Like Stacia, the picture of Fynn with the Sesame Street lineup really got me! (As did the last one of Paige and her daddy - too sweet!)

I'm glad you have felt so supported by your family, especially recently. Gush away!

  7. Beautiful! I love time with family. It is such a good way to get full to the top. Especially when you're not at your own home thinking about your to-do list.

  9. Family is about loving through the hot messes. My mother-in-law (who is fabulous!), still cradles my toddler when she has a fit. I still do, too. I love my in-laws, a little bit more than my own family. : )

I have noticed your name on many of the blogs I follow and have meant to click over. I am so glad I did! I will be back!

  10. Family pics are the best!!! The figurine pic is a keeper. A framer!

(I left my camera battery out of town last weekend I'm waiting for my friend to mail it to me. This post REALLY made me miss my camera, while I'm waiting. I don't think my friend realizes how much I use it.) :)

Oh, and your glasses almost make me wish I needed glasses, too. I wanna rock stylin' frames like that!

    Yes yes yes.
A few quiet days in the sun-beamed snow? I am envious in all kinds of ways. Quiet. Peace. Sounds interrupted. Sounds like a blissful weekend to me, girl.

It's so amazing to have such a close relationship with your in-laws. After reading this and the post about your mom visiting, your kids (all of you) must be in heaven. Thank you for gushing, and please continue! =]

  17. You take such gorgeous photographs. Love the snowball picture!!

My parents have a place in NH, too. It's so nice to escape up there, play outside, rip ourselves away from the television, the computer.

I love hearing you gush. It suits you! :)
